I know Barcelona is all about Gaudi, but Palau de la Musica Catalana you gotta see! It must be one of the most elaborate concert halls in the world, if not the. The Catalan Art Nouveau building exudes stunning elegance both inside and out. The whole thing is covered in ironwork, stained glass, sculptures and mosaic. Even though you might feel content with only having a look at the facade, I highly recommend to go on a tour of the place, to see the concert auditorium with the magnificent skylight ceiling. Just make a note of that when I was there (off-season) it was not as easy as show up and go on a tour. The tours were filling up quickly, so I had to get a ticket for a later time, and come back. So glad I decided to do that. At the time I was wondering if I should bother rushing back to the palace later that day. I like to be free to do whatever I what whenever I want to, and not be tied up by tour times.

I loved all the architecture in Barcelona, so I’d have been all over this. The detail is just astounding, and I think pictures don’t do it justice most of the time (although yours are beautiful!). I look at the pictures I took of the Sagrada Familia and they don’t even convey part of how cool that building was. I’m glad you enjoyed the tour, and as and when I make it back to Barcelona I’ll definitely be booking in advance!
Ha, ha, thanks 🙂 Yes, pics lack the 3D dimension. Barca architecture is mesmerising! You should definitely put this on your list, and learn from my “mistake” 🙂
Good information, it looks amazing.
Thanks! It is!
This place is stunning and I recommend a visit. It is so unique and you learn a lot about the Modernist movement. My guide was excellent and answered tons of questions.
It was such a surprise, because I hadn’t heard about it before, and I didn’t expect it to be as lovely as it is.
The architecture of the building is just so simply stunning! Yet another reason that I need to get myself over to Barcelona as quickly as possible!
It is!! What I love about Barcelona is the architecture. Besides that, I’m a bit nah… Prefer Madrid. But there are a lot of people disagreeing with me 😀
Good thing you went back later! It looks beautiful. I just love Catalan, it’s really sad what happened there recently and how they are being treated by the Spanish government 🙁
Yes, good thing I decided to give it a shot! I must admit I don’t know the history of Catalonia vs Spain.
That’s great that you were able to go back later on – I’m always disappointed when I show up somewhere and realize that I should have gotten tickets in advance. (I typically travel in off and shoulder seasons as well.) There’s something about this architecture that both surprises me that it’s in Barcelona and doesn’t – if that makes sense! The details on the columns are beautiful! Are they mosaic?
I know. I feel so unprepared. Like I should have known – I guess I should have 🙂 And it is so much easier to be able to get in when you’re there, and not have to come back. I guess I can’t expect everyone to be on my time 😀 I try/prefer to travel off/shoulder season too. Cheaper and less people 🙂 I know what you mean about the architecture. I didn’t expect to find this kind of expression here, but then again they are famous of the (Gaudi) art. Yes, it is mosaic.
Absolutely beautiful! It’s a good thing you went back later! It was probably also less crowded! #WanderfulWednesday
Yes, good decision on my part 🙂
Wow.
It sure is beautiful 🙂
