Pincho Nation

pincho nation interactive restaurant oslo norway

A friend was raving about this Swedish restaurant chain. Saying “the young people love it”, but she also. Sounding interesting, I gave it a go, in Oslo, Norway. And I won’t be back… The place itself is fine. The red velvet interior makes my thoughts go burlesque. Apparently it is a circus theme, which is in the same vein 🙂 The food, however, was not worth it. Expensive for what you get, which is low quality food, in small portions. The idea is to get several different dishes. And that’s fine, if the food is good.

Pincho’s Plank Steak: beef, duchess potatoes, chilli béarnaise, and chopped, grilled tomatoes. Beef was cooked to my taste, which is far from rare, and the dash of sauce was good. The Viral Vodka Pasta: pasta in spicy, creamy tomato sauce. Nothing spicy about it. Penne with the most tasteless sauce I’ve ever had. My friend, who joined me for dinner, reported the (tiny) spring rolls barely had any filling, but the Greek salad was good. She liked the (good amount of) tzatziki. I found it to be extremely garlic tasting. I put in a separate order of garlic bread, which took forever to get – two small slices of bread with garlic butter on. For dessert, a chocolate brownie with raspberry sorbet. Biggest scoop of sorbet I’ve gotten at a restaurant, so got my money’s worth. My drink of choice was Ananice: pineapple, passion fruit, vanilla, and coconut. A little on the watery side, making it weak in taste. The mocktail selection was impressive, and at ok prices.

They call themselves an app restaurant, which means you need to download their app to order. I hate having to download an app for just one occasion. Guess I’m old 😀 You get a notification, when your food is ready for pick-up. You can have a look at the menu here: pinchonation.no/restaurant/no-oslo-fred-olsens/menu, if you don’t feel like downloading the app to have a peek.

We went to the branch close to the train station. There are more branches in Oslo, the rest of the country, and the Nordics. 80 in total. Upon arrival, you get complementary popcorn. I had been told you can have as much popcorn as you like. Not entirely true. The two of us got one “bucket”, no refill in sight.
