A Touch of France in Helsinki

french food restaurant helsinki helsingfors finland

I found better French food in Helsinki, Finland, than in Paris 😀 I’ll attribute it to pure luck. I just wasn’t as fortuitous in coming across great places to eat, while in the French capital. Ravintola (= restaurant) Pastis was something I happened upon, as I usually do, on a quiet street in a residential neighbourhood, on my way to Instagram popular Huvilakatu, which, by the way, wasn’t all that. Having missed the hotel breakfast, and having the coldest day during my visit, I was “desperate” to find a place to fill my needs. And it did. The entrance and bar have a French vibe. The rest maybe a little less, but is still a nice looking place. I got my own little nook – sofa and table for one. Those booths placed on the window sills are cool. Food wise this is great. I would have been content with the whipped butter, and bread 😀 The Croque Madame I went with, was good, but the French (I assume) cheese was too pungent for my taste.
