New Delhi in Oslo, Norway, has been around for many years, but their previous location wasn’t something I’d just bump into, so I never visited. A few years back, it relocated to a more central spot in the Tjuvholmen / Aker Brygge. Now, that wasn’t the reason I ended up here though 😀 I was looking for new places to try, and basically found it online. It has been called Oslo’s best Indian restaurant… I was impressed, so I’ll be back, when I am in the area.
We went there on a Sunday early afternoon. When we arrived it was far from full, but before we left, it had gotten quite busy. Some of the tables are set very close, with a perforated partitioner, so not very private.
They have a pretty extensive menu, from street food items, which weren’t small in size, to a chef’s table dining experience. Having been long since my last Indian meal, I just couldn’t sway away from Butter Chicken. It was tasty, and I have never gotten this many pieces of chicken in a dish before! Thumbs up! My friend went with a mixed grill platter. I’d say it was a lot smaller portion than my curry, but she was content. The naan was soft and fluffy, just the way I expect it to be. We were more “adventurous” in choosing starters. Okra fries with dip – really nice! Pani Puri Shots, which were hollow balls of crispy something, filled with veggies – potato? – and you pour spicy water inside the balls. It surprised me the whole thing was cold. Interesting! Looking forward to trying more dishes next time.
