VIA Village Food Court is one of the several street food venues, that have popped up in Oslo, Norway, in recent years. I have tried a couple of them previously, and now time had come for this one. It is definitely more on the stylish side, compared to the others, and has both communal tables, and private ones. There are six food stalls, but when many dishes are already sold out on Monday at lunch time, there is not much to choose from… I assume it has something to do with not getting deliveries during the weekend, but then maybe staying closed on Monday is a good idea… The food we ended up with, was good though.
I went for Gai Yang chicken skewers from Sukhumvit Soup & Grill. The Nam Jim Jaew dipping sauce was really nice! I was close to sipping it 😀 Instead I stuck to the Thai iced tea, even though it clashed a bit with my tastebuds. My friend chose Shadys Burgers & Fries, having the Shadys Chicken & Fries dish. She’d had it before, at another branch, noting this time it was sliced crispy chicken cutlets, not bites of crispy chicken. Slightly disappointed…? Forgot to ask. I think I would be.
Some of the food stalls have branches elsewhere in town. If the Meraki food stall is related to the Meraki at Bryn Shopping Mall, which I believe, then I wouldn’t recommend it… “Der peppern gror” is getting rave reviews, but I was not impressed.
None of the staff I spoke to, at 4 different stalls, spoke Norwegian. Some limited English, and some not eager to answer any questions. One told me to check online for dish descriptions… Hopefully it was just the Monday morning blues, for all of them.
All in all, will I be back? No.
VIA Village is located downtown, but still a bit off, so might wanna ask for directions.
