I have seen this service come up in search results, when I have been looking for luggage storage, while travelling. Since luggage lockers are few and far between in Tromsø, Norway, I figured my stop here, would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. If any problems would arise, I would be in my country, making it easier to handle any issues.
On their website, enter the city, village, etc, where you need storage. Select check-in and check-out date and time, and number of luggage pieces – size doesn’t matter, one is one, no matter if it is a suitcase or a handbag. Now you will get a list of all possible partners, and their positions on a map. You will not get the name of the partner, but a name describing where the partner is located. Type of place, opening hours, rating, and cost per piece per day, are also stated. If you choose one of the partners, there will be more details, like the distance to known landmarks. It would be wise to have a look at the map, as for example the partner called “Tromsø bus / boat terminal” is slightly further away from the bus / ferry terminal than the partner named “Near Tromsø Cathedral”. Which means, I chose the latter. Cost was 5 euros per bag per day. In other words, same price if you need storage for 30 minutes or 3 hours. In addition there is a 1.75 euros fee for a 3.000 euro guarantee. I guess it has something to do with lost or damaged luggage. Just my assumption! This fee can not be opted out of. If you want flexible drop-off and pick-up, within the opening hours, add 3 euros to your total. Immediately after I made the booking, I received a booking confirmation e-mail. Containing the actual name of the partner, the address, and a QR code, among other details.
Since my flight was delayed, I showed up at the storage location an hour late. No problem. I gave them my QR code upon drop-off, and pick-up. I forgot to take a photo of my bag, as is recommended, but I think they did. My suitcase was put inside one of their storage rooms, and I left empty handed. Check-out also went without a hitch. This I will do again!
The only places you can find luggage storage in Tromsø, are at the ferry / bus terminal, Jekta (shopping mall), and the airport. The number of lockers at the ferry / bus terminal are low, and therefore highly unlikely to be available. There doesn’t seem to be any deadline for booking with Radical Storage, so maybe check out locker availability first. Jekta would be out of the way for most visitors. Due to construction work, the storage facility at the airport is closed (November 2024).
In Paris, I found Bagages du Monde at the airport very handy.
