Sabi Sushi

sabi sushi restaurant manglerud oslo norway

I did not expect this from a restaurant at the mall. A tiny mall, in the suburbs of Oslo, Norway. It just opened, so I wanted to give it a try. Was not in the mood for sushi, which makes up most of the menu, but found some other dishes too. Really nice ones! Chicken Karaage (deep-fried chicken) and Vinderen Salad (shrimp tempura salad). I am definitely going back. Had to get help opening the Japanese soda 😀 Read the instructions, to no avail. Turns out you have to give the cap quite the whack. Also a glass marble inside the bottle. What it does, have no idea. Ramune, with melon flavour. Very nice! Not as sweet as I feared it was going to be. Very welcoming staff. Interior nice, considering it’s inside a mall.

This Sabi Sushi is in Manglerud, outside the city centre. Unless you stay here, or wanna do an off-the-beaten-track kind of thing, and go for a walk along Østensjøvannet, there’s really no reason to head out this way. Might wanna try the branch downtown (in Vika). Has several branches in Oslo, and the rest of Norway.

  1. Oooo, I’ll have to check out this chain. It’s funny you found yourself in Manglerud….its been a long while since I’ve been in that neighborhood even though it’s not too far from where I live. I guess we were there more often long ago when the kids were younger and we went on long walks around and beyond Østensjøvannet. Thanks for putting this suggestion out there.

Love to hear your comment :)
