I was really looking forward to snorkelling the bubbly Champagne Reef on Dominica, but unfortunately the waters were too choppy, so we had to leave empty-handed. After walking down to the beach, our guide jumped into the waters to check the conditions. A while later he concluded it was not going to be a nice experience. The coastline is beautiful though – lush hillside, rock beach, and wooden boardwalk, unless the serenity has had to give way since then. As I visited Dominica while on a cruise, there was no going back the next day, so sadly I had to miss out on the underwater fumaroles, and colorful corals, sponges, and water lilies.
After doing a little research on tour companies, I decided to go with Levi and his Bumpiing Tours. I can highly recommend them for anyone visiting, if they are still in business…
