Not much… I must say I didn’t venture outside the old town, so maybe there are some gems, but honestly it didn’t look like it. What lies beyond the bridge, I basically don’t know. There is a quite boring main street, a couple of nicer side streets, a few half-timbered houses here and there. Some street art, both in the form of murals and sculptures, latter were really cool. K building is swell as well. The river lined with boats of different kinds, is nice. The Curonian Lagoon waterfront lined with huge ships, are impressive. Accidentally came across John’s Hill, remains of an old fortification, reminded me of the star fortress in Copenhagen. Looked good. Dikes, canals, paths, and apparently a dancing fountain, which adds music on the weekends. All in all, the best thing about Klaipėda is the day trip to the Curonian Spit, which was the reason for coming. It’s close to Palanga too, but it didn’t look tempting.
