I’d say there are more than witches on the Hill of Witches in Juodkrante on the Curonian Spit in Lithuania. Initially I was unsure about this park of 80+ wooden, folk art sculptures from 1979, but now I’m glad I decided to stop by. In essence it is a 1.5 km long, circular dirt trail in the forest, dotted with oak creations from Lithuanian folktales. There are single pieces, fairytale scenes playing out, and even some kids can play on. There looked to be trails taking you further into the woods, maybe even to a church, somewhere. I decided to stay on the circling route I had mapped out, which exited among a cluster of houses, grocery store, and souvenir shop. It is an easy hike, a bit uphill in places, as it does sit on a sand dune, but nothing too exhausting. I found it enjoyable, and it doesn’t take much of your time either.
To get to the Hill of Witches you can either get off at the main bus stop in Juodkrante, and walk from there, about a kilometer. Alternatively you can ask the bus driver to let you off at the bus stop next to the park entry (Raganų kalnas), which is literally next to the park entrance. It would be the stop immidiately after the main stop. As you are about to leave town.
I visited on a day trip from Klaipeda.
