This might be the best reason for stopping in Siauliai, Lithuania. I indeed came for the chocolate ball, but figured I had to have some food before digging into the sweets. And when there is kibini on the menu, this time accompanied by chicken broth, I don’t mind. The kibini filling was also of a different kind, made in a different way, than what I had at Pinavija in Vilnius. Didn’t matter to me 🙂 There are lots of other things to choose from too. Ask for the menu at the counter. The menu on the table is limited, and focuses mostly on the dish of the day, which goes for a nice price. What I didn’t look for on the menu, was the aforementioned chocolate ball. I just said I’d heard about a chocolate ball, she said yes, and fixed it for me. So what is it? Well, it is a hollow chocolate ball, which have a scoop of vanilla ice cream inside. Served with a small mug of melted chocolate to pour on top, berries, and swirls of white chocolate. For sure sweet, no doubt about it, but veeery nice, and cool!
I just visited the cafe at Ruta. Considered for a second to visit the museum, but decided not to. Did pop my head inside the shop, filled with kids on a school trip, so quickly backed out.
Ruta is located in a pretty pretty, and pretty anonymous looking building on one of the main roads running through town. Not a place you’d bump into at the pedestrian avenue.
