Pirmas Blynas in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a must-visit. I might not have been overwhelmed by the first pancake I had (bacon and apples), but the second time around (chocolate, banana, and berries), I eat the whole thing, and it was big 😀 However, what’s exceptional about this place, is the setting. First off, the front yard looks like an empty lot, until you realise the pancake house is inside the abandoned church. You have to follow the signs, otherwise you might not spot it. The inside is rustic, and really cool. Almost feels like they moved stuff into a parking garage, or an unfinished industrial building. It’s not a huge place, so not too many tables. It filled quickly up at lunch time. Even though there’s mostly pancakes on the menu, both savoury and sweet, they serve soups and salads too. What you should also know about this restaurant, is that they have a social mission, they hire people with disabilities both as waiters and kitchen help, and run educational programs. What’s not to like 🙂
Pirmas Blynas is a bit off the main thoroughfare running through the old town. On the same street as many small venues, where you just need to keep an eye out for the sign pointing you in the right direction, towards an abandoned church courtyard.
I checked out a couple of other eateries in Vilnius also.
