Stepping off the bus in Victoria, first mission, find lunch. Luckily the bus stop was right next to the opera house, and its bistro had put out chairs and tables curbside, making my brain realise there’s food being served. Inside Aurora Bistro is really nice. Wide open space, with interior fitting an opera house. Beautiful ceiling. Menu-wise there were lots of different dishes, but my eye caught something new, ftira. What is this, I had to ask the waitress. Maltese bread, ring-shaped it turned out to be. Of course I had to try it. It was served like a club sandwich, so not the most exciting, I guess, but I was happy with it 🙂 Apparently there is a Gozo variation, which is more like a pizza than a sandwich. It is served with different toppings, and thinly sliced potato on top. Had I known, I would have tried Gozitan ftira.
Aurora Bistro is not at the top of the hill, at the centre of Victoria, but on the main street leading up there. Next to the shopping mall, more or less. It was kind of nice being out of the busy section.
