Grande Pensao Alcobia in Lisbon, Portugal, might look like a shabby shack upon arrival, but don’t be fooled by the looks that it got. Once you get in the room, you’ll be in a totally different mood. Happy, that is 🙂 Unlike the rest of the hotel, or those parts I saw, the room has had a facelift, making it very enjoyable. Love the French balcony with a view of Saint George’s Castle up on the hill. Add to this, a superb location. In Baxia, close to Rossio. Everything you need is around the corner, including a grocery store; a couple of blocks away, like the subway, train station, and main pedestrian street Rua Augusta; or up the hill – approaching the castle from this angle was actually kind of nice, quiet. Although very central, the street noise didn’t find its way into my room. I’d say this place was close to perfect!
