There wasn’t a shortness of places to have lunch at, in Camara de Lobos on Madeira. So much that I had a hard time making a choice. After surveying my options, I decided on a curbside table at Gaviao do Ilheu, on the main pedestrian street. I did glance at the other guest’s platters 😀 , and they looked really good, validating my pick. My lunch might not look the most exciting 😉 , but prawns, mushrooms, and garlic are always bull’s eye in my book. Also, I just had to add bolo do caco, bread specific to Madeira. I couldn’t get enough of it while visiting! Another thing the island is known for is poncha. Since this was my last day here, I figured I couldn’t leave without tasting the traditional brew. Not being much of a drinker, the waiter offered to make a weaker version. I still almost died 😀 And she got a great laugh. It is normally half and half rum and juice, and it is a little more than the size of a shot. Well, at least I can check it off 😀 Great place – welcoming staff, and delicious food!
