Andrew’s Descent, or Andriyivsky uzviz, is a historic street that connects the Upper Town (old town) of Kyiv, Ukraine, with the riverside Podil neighbourhood. The steep thoroughfare is said to be a popular place, with a bohemian flair, filled with artists showcasing their works, alongside market stalls selling all sorts of trinkets. Some even call it the Montmartre of Kyiv. Well, I must have visited at the wrong time. It was so quiet. I spotted some street art, but that’s about it. Maybe better in the summer? Definitely not a spot to visit midday in October.
Tip: A little over halfway down, there is a set of stairs to the left. Climb these, and you will get a great view of Andrew’s Descent and the neighbourhood on the other side of the hill.
