Magen’s Bay on St. Thomas is rumoured to be one of the best beaches in the world. Well, I have to beg to differ. Of course, it depends on what you are looking for, but this is definitely not what I would put that label on. Here you will have to pay to hang out with lots of people, both locals and tourists. In a way it feels like a public park, just sitting on sand instead of grass. Luckily though, the beach is a mile long, so if you walk way off, away from the restaurant area, you’ll find a quieter spot. Wanna go for a swim? Just look out for the fishing pelicans. Birds coming down from up high, like spears, diving into the waters around you, doesn’t make it very tempting to go for a dip… Before coming, I read I could find good snorkelling, but it can’t be right. I saw sandy bottoms only. However it wasn’t a huge must for me, so I didn’t ask around. When I got back to the ship, friends I had made earlier, had spent the day snorkelling at Coki Point, which was a great experience. Feeding plenty of fish.
St. Thomas was a port on my cruise with Celebrity Cruises.
