If you’re keen on getting a panorama of Mandal, climbing Torjusheia is a very good option. 62 meters above sea level only, it doesn’t take long to reach the gazebo looking building, Uranienborg, atop. The path going up is a bit steep, but shouldn’t prove much of a problem. Steps initially, and then it turns into a dirt trail. A few benches have been put out, if you need a break on the way. The beginning of the path you’ll find, a bit hidden, between Husfliden and Edgar’s Bakery. After a 10-15 minute hike you can enjoy a 180 degree view, of the river, harbour, town center, residential areas, and sea beyond. The Adolph Tidemand’s Bridge looks cool from this angle too 🙂 It can be quite windy at the top, so it might be a good idea to backtrack a few meters, and make use of one of the benches while taking it in. Binoculars in the rotunda only.
