On my way home from South America, I had one mission, in Pentagon City outside Washington D.C. – shopping! Accommodation wise that meant one thing only, I wanted a hotel close to the mall. And I found it. Americana Hotel in Crystal City, two blocks away. Upon arrival I got a bit suspicious though, in the dark the neighbourhood didn’t look too inviting. My local friends who dropped me off, assured me I had nothing to worry about. Residential area home to lots of military personnel. Just scream, and they’ll come running 🙂 The hotel itself is a mix of spooky – the hallways, and quirky – the room colors, but I like it! Well, maybe not the spookiness – I know it’s my imagination only 🙂 , but the definitely the quirkiness. Even better, the bed is super soft, never had a hotel bed like that. And it’s high – which I love! I can sit on the edge, and dangle my legs 😀 Staff is extraordinary. A lady working the front desk ended up giving me her Coca-Cola, when I asked if there was a grocery store besides Trader Joe’s close by, as I didn’t have cash for the vending machine. I guess she saw my desperation 😀 We became good buddies, and I got a hug when I checked out 🙂 Needless to say, this will be my go-to hotel for the area, for sightseeing too. A couple of stops on the metro, and you are in the middle of where it all happens.
