This is an example of the chance meetings you have while travelling solo. One of the reasons I love going about it on my own. On my day trip to Montevideo, Uruguay, I needed some lunch. Instead of sitting down at the more obvious choice, but not so alluring to me, the Mercado del Puerto, I decided to what else would come my way. Seis did. First its busyness caught my interest, then the food cooking on the griddle. It looked to be a take away spot, as I after the fact saw the sign say 🙂 , but they do have a bar table / bar chair setup, and when I asked if could sit down for lunch, I got a sure! Not knowing what was what on the menu, I asked what was on the grill, and said I too wanted that. Turned out it was arepa filled with steak strips sautéed in red wine and herbs, with cheese on top. Was also recommended to add their very popular, homemade signature sauce, before they would run out. Just sitting there enjoying my food, by myself, I ended up chatting with the guys working there and others who were out on their lunch break. Talking about travelling, Uruguay, and food 🙂 30 terrific minutes of my life. Should just have happened before I placed my order, so I would have known to go for something classical Uruguayan, chivito, the Uruguayan steak and egg sandwich, which looked really tasty!! Next time, if there ever is one 🙂
