It literally was a case of run through, as Cologne was just a short stop to get out of the RV to stretch our legs, on our way to dropping me off at the airport in Düsseldorf. Superb parking, more or less in front of the Cologne Cathedral, so it was merely jump out and start exploring. My dad wanted to have a peek inside the church, and report was he liked it. So could be worth a visit. It was definitely striking from the outside. Huge. From there we continued down pedestrian Hohe Strasse, one of the main streets of the old town, filled with, closed, shops. Usually probably one of the busiest areas, but on a late Sunday morning, it was actually nice and quiet, projecting a, misleading, smaller town vibe. After a little crisscrossing through the narrow alleyways of the old town, with its traditional old houses, we soon found ourselves by the Rhine riverbank, on which the city lies. Only spending a couple of hours, impression was, nice, but not outstanding, and a small downtown, considering it is one of Germany‘s biggest metropolises.
