That’s the feeling I was left with from spending some time in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Living in the city, this would be a nice place to hang out. Wide, green spaces to chill in. Cafes and restaurants, that were packed at Sunday brunch. A few stores, and innumerable handicraft stalls at the market on Saturday – missing food stands though 🙂 Kids seemed to flock to the Recoleta Cultural Centre (centroculturalrecoleta.org), a workshops venue by the looks of it. However as a visitor there’s not too much to keep you busy here. You have the beautiful cemetery, which the place is probably most known for. The really cool looking steel/aluminium flower, with petals opening and closing, is worth a visit. It’s just one of the many statues and sculptures scattered across the area’s parks and plazas. Some with a more modern twist than others. If you find yourself feel adrift, you can always do as the locals 🙂
