I finally made it back to the Mayflower Hotel in London. Last time I thought I had, I hadn’t 😀 In my defence they all look the same from the outside, lining Kensington’s Trebovir Road, a short walk from Earls Court metro station. Since I loved this place so much the first time I stayed – I clearly remember the crisp bed linens – no doubt expectations were high, and the drop accordingly. I am not saying isn’t an ok place to stay, just that the room I got this time was a lot less nicer than the room I had on my first visit. Even if I take into consideration that it has been a couple of years, and that what appeared as newly refurbished then, wouldn’t look the same now, it does not explain the difference. I inquired about it when I checked out, and their answer was that I must have had an executive room or something. I’m pretty sure I had standard rooms both times though. Anyway, I guess my advice is to just make sure you know what room you’re getting – what I got this time was kinda basic. Otherwise it is a nice looking hotel, in a great neighborhood with cafes, restaurants and a few shops. Hallways are narrow, and steep in places, if that has an impact on the decision to be made.
PS! My blunder on my previous visit landed me at a cheaper hotel, with the same great location.

Finding a decent hotel in a decent part of London at a price that won’t break the bank is not as easy as it sounds
Hear, hear 🙂
