Always being on the look-out for a good savoury pie when visiting England, I came across a list of London‘s best pies – I bet there are a few of them 🙂 Eliminated one after the other going down the list, until I found one that fit the next day’s route through town, at Kings Cross, not far from the metro station. Piebury Corner actually started as a food stall for Arsenal fans on match day. Piebury, Highbury, get it 😀 Now there are three locations, Holloway in addition to Kings Cross and Highbury. Anyway, I was surprised to find an American diner interior style restaurant, kind of a crash between two cultures. Wanting to try something else besides the “regular” steak and ale, the very welcoming hostess suggested I’d go for minced beef and onion with a creamy vegetarian gravy. It was okay, not brimming with flavour, maybe a bit “dry”. I guess I should have gone with the staff recommendation, steak and ale 😀 The portions are small, smaller than the ones I’ve had before. Even me who doesn’t need much to fill up, would have liked the pie to be a bit bigger.

Oh I just LOVE a good pie. I haven’t eaten many in London so I’ll be saving this post for the next time I’m up in that area. Thanks for sharing on #farawayfiles
Me too! I got bitten by the bug in New Zealand 🙂 Now I try to have it every time I visit London, unfortunately I don’t visit once a year anymore 🙁
You can’t beat a good pie on match days
I wish we could get a pie from a food stall on match day here too 🙂
