My Easter Island Bungalow

idyllic bungalow hotel hanga roa easter island chile

On the outskirts of Easter Island’s main settlement, Hanga Roa, in idyllic and quiet surroundings, with splendid ocean view from the balcony, you’ll find Hareswiss. A family run business with three bungalows for rent. As I’ve learned from a previous visit to the Pacific Ocean, I’m not good at budget accommodations in this kind of setting. With this in mind I looked high and low for something that wouldn’t break the bank, but also was bug free. And I found it! Clean as a whistle. In hindsight, with the temperatures we were having, bugs might not have been a problem at all – a heater would actually have been convenient 🙂 The only drawback to this place is getting into town. Most convenient would have been renting a car, or some kind of vehicle, but as I was there for a few days only, I decided to rely on taxis and walking. I’ll admit it was a longer walk than I thought it was going to be. The shortcut along the beach will get it down to 15-20 min. Taxis can probably be hailed in town, but best to have someone call one or get a business card from one of the drivers, so you just call yourself when you want to be picked up. Transportation to and from the airport are provided by the host, who will also be helpful from start till end. He’ll answer all questions you might have before arriving. They live in the main house on the property, so only need to ring the door bell. And he’ll send you off with a homemade gift 🙂

PS! One of the requirements for entering Easter Island (Rapa Nui), is that the accommodation you’re staying at is registered with Sernatur. This one is, and I had no problems with island immigration.

  1. Hareswiss looks like a great accommodation. I stayed at Chez Jerome on the other side of the airport from the center of Hanga Roa. It was also very nice.

Love to hear your comment :)
