On my way from Easter Island to Punta Arenas in Chile, I needed to overnight at an airport hotel in Santiago de Chile. My choice became the Diego de Almagro hotel a 5 minute drive away from the terminal, and it was a good choice. With free shuttles taking you to and from, this kind of was a no-brainer. After booking you get a detailed e-mail in several languages, which explains how to approach the free shuttle service (run by another company) upon arrival. I had my concerns, but it turned out to be smooth sailing. On my return to the airport, at 3 in the morning, the hotel shuttle driver decided to leave as soon as I got down to the front desk, off schedule. One thing you need to note though, is that there is nothing around. So if you arrive hungry like me, you’ll have to turn to the hotel restaurant, which wasn’t a culinary treat… Room was good, and if arriving earlier in the day, I would have made use of the decent looking pool area.
