The taxi driver asked when I inquired about restaurant recommendations, as he was taking me to downtown Hanga Roa on Easter Island. Yes! Then you need to go to Kanahau. Ok! And that’s how I ended up here. Admittedly it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it is really nice inside, kind of an upscale vibe. I was out on the terrace, which was a little bit cold, in the pouring rain that greeted us to the island. I didn’t realise there was an inside until I left, and peaked around the corner. What I learned on my first day was, portions are huge, dining quite expensive, and quality seafood. At Kanahau I really, really loved the butter that came with the bread 🙂 Don’t know what it was made of, but it was pink. and delicious. I even put some on my fish, which made my Japanese curry turn into a different dish 🙂
Kanahau restaurant is located on the main street.
