If you ever get what you order, that is 😀 Ekebergrestauranten has, in my mind, the best bird eye’s view of Oslo. So sitting out on the patio, on a warm summer day, with said sundowner, is pretty chill! In the years that have passed, since its opening, I have been here a few times. However, my visit last week confirmed, what slowly, but surely, came back to me about the visit prior, the nearer we got to our dinner date, and is probably going to sway me not going back, unless I “have” to. The term is poor customer service. Less than attentive staff. They ask you what you want to drink, never gets it for you, but puts it on the tab still. They do take it off, when made aware the drink never showed. Thing is though, they should have brought it. It feels like you have to work for their attention, to get to order, to get to order some more, to get to pay. Yes, it was busy, but I’ve seen places a lot busier, and they’ve gotten it right. Food wise. Previous times, good, but not great. This time, mediocre. And I, who had passed on moules-frites earlier in the week, because I was going to enjoy it here 🙁
Even though Ekebergrestauranten is close to the city centre, it is a fairly long, uphill walk from downtown. Get on the tram, and it will make your life easier. Hop off at the Ekebergparken stop, and walk uphill. As you might have figured out by now, the restaurant is located right next to/inside the lovely sculpture park, Ekebergparken.
