When I finally decided to go on a short vacation to Andorra, it turned out getting there on public transportation, wasn’t as hard as it had previously looked like, at a glance. I decided to fly into Barcelona, Spain, and get on the bus from there. There was a couple of companies to choose from, but the departure times of Direct Bus from Barcelona Airport, suited me the best. Making reservations online was pretty straight forward. The kicker is you have to get the tickets at the train station in the city…, the second pick-up point in town. After connecting with a fellow traveller on TripAdvisor, who had done the same trip with the same company, I was set at ease. You just show the driver the reservation confirmation when boarding the bus at the airport, and he’ll let you know what to do when you arrive at the train station, in Spanish only though… As my flight was arriving less than an hour before one of the departure times, I didn’t want to risk it, and booked a ticket on the next bus. Turned out I made it in time for the earliest of the two buses, and the driver let me get on that one instead of waiting for 2 hours – just perfect! The bus ride takes about 3.5 hours from El Prat to Andorra la Vella, including the stop in downtown Barcelona. On the way there, there are a few spots that impress scenery wise, especially when you get to the Pyrenees, where the mountains are towering above you, so steep and close to the road that taking photos is not possible. Besides that, I’m afraid to say the ride is pretty boring. Other things to note, no stop at the border, arriving and leaving from the company office parking lot in Andorra la Vella. And happy to say, no hiccups on the return trip either.
