Bark

bark restaurant harstad arctic northern norway

Looking for a place to eat in Harstad, I stumbled upon this restaurant online. When I got there, it appeared to be very popular, with either tables already taken or booked. Asking the guys working there, it was no problem having dinner in the bar area. Welcoming and approachable staff, by the way. Sitting down and having a look at the menu, I soon realised I was in a predicament, way too many tempting dishes to choose from. Both international and Norwegian. Since I wasn’t too hungry, I decided on tapas – the usual meatballs in tomato sauce, scampi with garlic and chilli, and focaccia and aioli. It might not look like much, but when plate was empty, I was full, and, mmm, it was tasty! I also hear their pasta and fish gratin are delish. Didn’t find it expensive either. 159 NOK for my three tapas dishes.

Update: On my second visit I tried the fish soup. Might be the best I’ve ever had! Tasted like a fish soup/lobster soup combo. I as close to licked the plate empty 😀

    1. Haha, I know!! But it needs to be a good one. Just had one at a reputable (at least it used to be) restaurant in Oslo, and it was just mediocre.

  1. I remember the food in Norway being quite pricey. You seem to have found an affordable gem.

    1. Yes, it can be pretty expensive compared to other countries 🙂 I used to eat out a lot, so I was pretty good at sniffing out those good, cheap places. I still don’t spend too much on a dish. The cheapest dishes at Bark are good deals.

Love to hear your comment :)
