This is basically a note letting you know it is ok to skip the Amador Causeway when visiting Panama City… I had read nice things about it prior to coming, and considered going for a bike ride along it. When my ferry for Taboga Island departed from the terminal at Flamenco Island, I figured it would be a great opportunity to see whether or not it was worth my time. Amador Causeway is a long stretch of road that takes you out to three islands – Naos Island, Perico Island and Flamenco Island, in that order. And that is what it is, a long continuous area of asphalt. At the most outer island there is a small shopping mall and a harbour harbouring yachts. Honestly, on the way back to the mainland, when I really tried to look to see if it warranted its own visit, I saw a road with some buildings and a bike path along it. By all means, you get nice views of the city and the skyline, but that you can get elsewhere in town.
Getting there, it didn’t look like any public transportation served the islands. I had a cab take me to the ferry terminal and back. The Hop-on Hop-off bus has a stop, but that will force you to stay for a good while.
Thank you. These kind of posts are just as helpful as the gushing ones. #WanderfulWednesday
Yes, sometimes it can get too “gushy” 😀
Good to know ahead of time that it’s not worth a visit. #wanderfulwednesday
Then you can cross that off your list 🙂
Always good to know what you can skip as well as the must-sees 🙂 #WanderfulWednesday
Yep, just ditched Costanera in Asuncion when someone confirmed what I already suspected 🙂
