Victoria Peak

how to get to victoria peak tram hong kong island

Or The Peak, is a must do! Not for the many restaurants and other attractions you’ll find a the top, but for the impeccable views you get from this 552 meters high hill on Hong Kong Island. From here it is easy to see why Hong Kong is the city with the most skyscrapers in the world. And it’s a dense collection they’ve got! If you decide to do one of the four nature walks possible at the peak, you’ll also enjoy vistas of the Outlying Islands. Since I wasn’t too keen on the restaurants and shops at the cool, but very commercial looking, Peak Tower, or the, paid for, views from Sky Terrace 428, I ended up spending time with an Aussie outback ranger, I accidentally met at one of the viewpoints, exploring the nature walks. Good times!

There are several ways you can get to The Peak, but the most popular one is the Peak Tram – one of the world’s oldest and most famous funicular railways. It’s a steep experience rising to the top. So much that when getting on the tram, after deciding to walk down from the top, soon realising it was a bad idea, and having to turn around and walk back up to the nearest tram stop, it feels like the floor is positioned at a 45 degree angle – not the easiest task to get to a vacant seat 🙂

  1. Oh yes! I would be all over this. Love getting a perspective of a place from above and nice to know you can get some green space in while still taking in that huge city! Thanks for sharing on #FarawayFiles

    1. I have stopped doing city look-out points, but when the cityscape is quite unusual, like this, I’ll do it 🙂

  2. Wow, those are spectacular views. It’s like a forest of skyscrapers. I think I would do the nature walks as well.

    1. Yes, I don’t know how they manage to put that many skyscrapers into such a “small” area. compared. The nature walks add value, otherwise it is very quickly done.

Love to hear your comment :)
