On our way through Outer Banks in North Carolina towards Charleston, South Carolina, we needed a place to rest our heads for one night. When Hurricane Florence forced us to relocate, from Morehead City on the mainland to Atlantic Beach on Bogue Banks barrier island, we ended up at Palm Suites. Not having seen the hotel that had to cancel due to hurricane damage, in its original state, I’m still convinced we got the better end of the deal. I really liked the homey room that welcomed us. I assume it is usually set up to be a suite, but since we wanted two beds, it became a room in a way parted in two – thereby offering you a bit more privacy, if desired, and consequently one of the beds was a sofabed – I got the hard end of that deal 🙂 Since we were in town for that one night only, we didn’t get to see much of Atlantic Beach, but for restocking there is a mall with a Food Lion just up the road. You could probably walk, but with on-site parking, jumping in the car was way to easy 🙂 PS! Shortly after arriving the fire alarm went off. We went down to the reception area, together with the other guests, but no staff showed up. After the alarm had rung for a good while, it silenced, and everyone went back to their rooms. No explanation or letting us know things were ok. Don’t know if this is an American way of doing things, or a Palm Suites way…
For our road trip we rented a car from Alamo Rent A Car.

Glad you found this little place to stay in hurricane country. I would love to go to North Carolina sometime!
Me too 🙂 We did the coast of North Carolina only, but really liked it!
That looks so cosy and comfy but so weird about the fire alarm!
I really liked the place, but not too impressed by the fire alarm situation. Luckily it was nothing serious this time!
