My first southern meal was at Miller’s Waterfront Restaurant in Nags Head, Outer Banks, North Carolina. Endorsed by TripAdvisor and the hotel concierge 🙂 Unfortunately we missed the sunset, which this place is perfect for, but it was quite the meal we had – too much, as always in the US 😀 I filled up on coconut shrimps and fried oysters. It did take a while getting used to the sweet taste of coconut on shrimps. My accomplice had some pork appetizer and a huuuuge, bloody rib-eye steak, with onions rings the size of hand bangles. This on top of comp corn tots, which I’ve never had before, but loved!

Oh my, I would LOVE to try coconut shrimps – they sound (and look) right up my alley!
It took a few bites to get used to the combo. The sweetness through me for a loop 🙂
I’ve never heard of fried oysters! Maybe I would like oysters if they were fried? I don’t know, lol. The shrimp look delicious though!
Me neither, until I visited. It is definitely very different from raw ones. I like both 🙂 Did baked ones later on. Coconut shrimps were nice. Just needed a while to get used to the sweetness of the coconut combined with shrimp 😀
Ooh yup fried oysters are a southern specialty! I’ve never had them myself (celiac and all) but my mom loves them.
Had baked ones in New Orleans, liked them too 🙂 I loved trying out all those dishes. And so many I didn’t get around to 🙁
You had me at onion rings! Everything looks so delicious!
Then you would love those onion rings 🙂 They were huge!
