A Bunch of Naked People

frogner vigeland sculpture park oslo norway

This park in Oslo has a couple of names attached to it, Frognerparken and Vigelandsparken. The latter is the sculpture part of the former. Basically, one does not go without the other. In addition to Vigeland’s naked people – yes, all the sculptures are of young and old in their birthday suit – Frognerparken also includes the Museum of Oslo (Bymuseet) and a couple of cafes. It is actually a lot bigger than what you perceive at first sight. Beyond the art, there are lots of green areas, which during the summer are used for everything from yoga and boot camp work-outs to barbecuing and sunbathing. Feels like it’s always packed on a warm day, as it was the other day, when I visited. So much that I added an old, winter photo of the most popular person at the park, the Angry Boy, instead of “waiting in line”. A boy that has been kidnapped a couple of times 🙂

Frognerparken is away from the city centre. But just a one-stop metro ride away.

  1. I love seeing lots of green spaces in cities and the idea of a sculpture park really appeals – naked people or not! Thanks for sharing on #Farawayfiles

    1. It’s probably one of the most famous attractions in Oslo. Great park on a sunny day! Why naked people? I don’t know, and never actually wondered about it 🙂 Googled it, and I got no wiser…

        1. Ekebergparken is kind of like a walk in the woods as well. Really nice, and surprises around every corner.

Love to hear your comment :)
