Feskekörka (fish church) is Gothenburg‘s fish market, and has been so since 1874 when it was built. I don’t think many will contradict me when I say it has come a long way since then. I had heard of this place before coming. Was curious, happy to get the chance to visit, to enjoy some fresh seafood, and had of course some idea of what to expect. I’d say I was pretty spot on. Only thing I got wrong was the size. A lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. But the vendors still have much to offer. Food to take home to cook yourself. Food to take away, to enjoy at the market’s outside seating area or on the comfortable (yes!) park benches by the canal running past. Or you can do what we did, have lunch at one of the two restaurants on site. No matter how you go about it, I highly recommend you go to church 🙂

Can’t wait to go here next month! YUM. Hoping weather is sunny like this so we can sit outside as well. Cheers from Copenhagen, Erin
Feskekörka was really cool, and the food expensive, but tasty. Would have gone back, but my friend is not much of a seafood person 🙂 You’re gonna love the archipelago!
Expect it will be expensive- maybe just a taste and buy something to cook at rental!
Good idea!
Ooh I love visiting food markets and food halls. It’s a great way to try a whole variety of the local dishes. Thanks for sharing on #FarawayFiles
This was a very good one!
