The Norwegian Maritime Museum in Oslo was something I just stumbled upon while visiting the other museums on the cul-de-sac. A good thing it wasn’t the reason for coming, otherwise I would have been highly disappointed. I’d say you’d have to be a huge lover of maritime life, if this is to be interesting. To me it was just a bunch of, boring, items… The most appealing ones being the figureheads. I was visiting off-season, so it might have been a more positive experience to visit in-season, or whenever the outdoor exhibition is open. My suggestion is to look thoroughly into it before deciding to pay the fairly steep (considering what you’re getting…) entrance fee.
The Norwegian Maritime Museum is located outside central Oslo, but you can easily reach it by bus. I’d say it’ll take you 30 minutes or so to get there. Since this is one of five museums located in this residential neighbourhood, you can get a lot done on a roundtrip bus ticket (note that will be two single tickets in Oslo), as if you’re up to it, you can walk between the museums. A nice walk I would say. Well, maybe not in the wintertime. Just remember to walk from Norsk Folkemuseum and to the end of the road, and not the other way around, as then you’ll face a steeper road to tread.

It’s always so good to see places that are outside of the key tourist trail – and I love a quirky museum. But this is not exactly the ringing endorsement – I won’t be going out of my way to visit!!! #CityTripping
I’d rather do any of the other museums around the area 🙂
