The Lakefront Reserve was something I just happened to stumble upon, wandering around Rotorua. Coming in from the Government Gardens, a stroll along the shores of Lake Rotorua is a very nice walk. I passed black swans and black ducks sailing the waters. I have never seen either before! They are beautiful! A canoe, the Maori version of course, was also on display. Impressive carvings! Equally beautiful! At the end I reached a small harbour with departing lake cruises. Even though it was in NZ wintertime, a sunny day brought out families enjoying the area, with barbeques and picnic tables, and some street vendor stalls.
Loved it here – stayed 3 days, could have been longer! #WanderfulWednesday
Me too!! Was so bummed I had too few days in Rotorua and too many days in Auckland and Wellington…
That riverfront is beautiful and love that old steam boat in the background! #WanderfulWednesday
I definitely had a delightful stroll along the lake!

Rotorua was definitely my NZ favourite. Rotorua Lakefront superb on a sunny day. I have never seen a black duck or swan either, so it was a real treat.
