While a friend and I were visiting Amsterdam, we thought exploring the city by paddle boating the waterways sounded like an excellent idea, and it was! Not just being a great way of sightseeing, it was also our means of transportation going from one part of the city to another. We picked up a canal bike at the dock near Anne Frank House, and dropped it off at the Rijksmuseum location. In between, we had a lot of fun. This is a superb way to see the city, especially the lovely canal houses and houseboats, that pass you by. In addition it does wonders for your thighs, that paddling 🙂 Just don’t forget to steer that thing! Because you’re not the only one on the “road”. Not just other paddle boats, but canal cruise boats, which up close are quite big. David against Goliath moments, for sure 🙂

We had so much fun! Not just seeing the city from another angle, but also riding the paddle boat, with a map in hand figuring out where to go, navigating in between the other “vessels”.
what a fun way to see the city!#farawayfiles
We had so much fun paddling around 😀
This looks like the perfect way to explore Amsterdam! I was just there in December but it was way too cold to hop on a paddle boat. I’ll have to go back in the spring!
Yes, that sounds too cold. Hopefully you get another chance at doing it, because it was really fun – a good laugh too 🙂
