The coffee house =Kaffe in Oslo is a cafe you should remember to make a note of for your city trip to Norway‘s capital. Not only is it a charming place with some retro 60s/70s furniture from when I was a kid, just like at grandma and grandpa’s, but it serves a purpose as well. This place is a side project for the Erlik (=) foundation which started by issuing =Oslo. A magazine that makes it possible for people struggling with addiction, and others who for different reasons find themselves begging for money, or do other things to survive, to make an income by selling magazines on the streets. When an average Joe decided to try and live on the street for a while, and film it, it resulted in a tv show, which became very popular, spurting even more tv shows/seasons. These same people have now taken on the task of running a cafe. =Kaffe is small coffee shop, with only a few tables. There’s both an upstairs and a downstairs (retro fest). In addition to food and drinks, they have a selection of products on offer. The sandwich I got was quite expensive, but I guess it’s for a good cause. #LoveThePhotosOnTheWall

The name coffee attracted me to this post but the good work this shop does for the down and out was the best part. I would happily visit Kaffe in Oslo.
Aha, a coffee lover 🙂 Yes, this is definitely worth a visit, even just because of its purpose.
There’s nothing like supporting a business that helps those in need, it’s a win-win.
Definitely!
What a great endeavor for a good cause. I love it when businesses find ways to do that and work with the local community!!! The place looks very warm and cozy, too!
It all started with a man, who wanted to try out life on the streets, and tell stories about the people he met. It turned into taking them on trips, and wanting to help them reach sobriety, culminating in this coffee house. Nice place and nice cause!
I have never been to Oslo, but I love so much businesses that pair with non-profit work. Will definitely stop by when I finally get there!
Me too! I was so lucky to find both a hostel and a restaurant when I visited Livingstone, Zambia, last fall. And let me know when you’re here 🙂
