This Is the Way to Immerse Yourself!

ancient building anthropology museum mexico city

When I decided to pay the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City a visit, I had no idea I was gonna be blown away. Not only is it a museum with a massive collection of artefacts from different periods and cultures, but the way they have chosen to display the items is an art in itself. I especially love the gardens with the outdoor exhibits – you get the sense of what it would feel like to discover a lost civilisation in the jungle yourself. These amazing setups are definitely not required (but sure heighten the experience), because the items themselves are remarkable – the sheer size is mind-blowing, like building facades and sculptures several meters high. Another thing I love is the roofed courtyard with the drizzling fountain. I found it calming, and just wanted to sit there for a while – it was a quiet day at the museum 😉 Anyhow, a nice ending to a good time!

  1. Museums are so much better with thoughtful displays like this. I do like the idea of discovering these for myself in the gardens. Thanks for sharing on #FarawayFiles

    1. Yes, for sure! There are so many museums around, that when you come across places like this, it makes you more excited – me at least 🙂 The outdoor displays were such nice surprises!

    1. I had a great time there! This was a while ago. People were very concerned that I was going there by myself, as always 🙂 I walked around, wherever I wanted to. Not at night though. Stayed in Condesa. Felt very safe, in the evenings as well. Had nothing uncomfortable happen to me, anywhere. But was told yesterday that a colleague of mine was robbed at gun point in Xochimilco, a part of town I also visited. Sometimes my looks (not white-looking 🙂 ) works to my advantage… Could be the case here too…

    1. The gardens/outdoor exhibits weren’t that big, but they had set some up like clearings in the forest. Love Indiana Jones 🙂

Love to hear your comment :)
