I had heard about the Bardo National Museum before travelling to Tunisia, but I didn’t know I was gonna be this impressed by the Tunis museum. I guess I was more like, how exciting can mosaics be…? And now I know. They can be quite remarkable. The details they are able to create with these small pieces is just incredible. The museum is definitely mosaic overload, no wonder as it has one of the largest collections of Roman mosaics in the world, but it is still time well spent. And you can always leave when you’re full 🙂 This exhibition makes up just one part of the museum, and is the only part we visited. Some of the other items on display sound intriguing, so you might wanna look into that if going. This was a stop on an organised tour to Tunis from Sousse, so no flexibility 😉

Wow. How old are they? They look Roman!
Roman they are. One of the largest collections in the world. So impressed by the work!
Yes they are incredible – just as we saw them in Jordan and Israel… incredible that they are still in the current state after such a long time!
Where in Jordan and Israel? With historic items I am always impressed by how they were able to create them with the tools they had back then.
Well there was the one at Madaba in Jordan. Then there are the ones at Caeserea in Israel…
Haven’t heard about any of these places. Thanks!
Look them up! They have some of the oldest mosaics too!
Cool! Have not been to Israel yet, and been to the southern part of Jordan only.
