I had read that the Newtown neighbourhood in Johannesburg was a vibrant, artisan one, so of course I wanted to check it out. It has a little street art, but I don’t quite see why this is so hyped up… Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice neighbourhood, small, has a shopping mall, restaurants, cafes, and the local designer’s Work Shop, but not the cool cat vibe I imagined. Mary Fitzgerald Square is also under reconstruction, not sure if that made any difference… Newtown was on the table while I was figuring out where to stay in Jozi, and after having visited, I however wouldn’t mind staying here.
The murals in your main pic are massive! I’m impressed – could study them for ages. #citytripping
Yes, they are huge ones. I wish there had been more murals.
I’ve heard a lot about street art in Johannesburg and would love to visit the city one day

You have? I hadn’t, besides Newtown, and I couldn’t find too much there.
