Loving This Little Guesthouse

hotel sandton johannesburg south africa

I found it hard to figure out where in Johannesburg to stay. Apparently there are areas “off limit” for a tourist. Not wanting to put more energy into it, I decided to go for what seemed like a safe and convenient bet. Sandton. Somewhere I have, after booking, read that this is the “richest square mile in Africa”. Could easily be… Nevertheless, I was very happy to be back in the land of the guesthouses. Just look at this one! How cozy isn’t it! And the room you get is big! With a small kitchen too, stocked with fruit, tea, coffee, cookies, and more. Breakfast is included, but with me never taking time to eat much in the morning, we agreed on them just leaving me some pastry/baked goods to nibble on in the evenings. The neighbourhood of Seven Streams is very quiet, besides the ever-present vuvuzela bird 🙂 A short walk away, though, you have a small shopping mall (Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre), and, surprisingly, a fair amount of restaurants line 11th Street. If you need more to keep you occupied, the huge Sandton City Mall, with the Gautrain station a bit further down, is just a short drive away. The owner, a lovely lady, is more than happy to give you a lift. She also picked me up at the train station, where the bus dropped me off, upon arrival in Johannesburg.

    1. It was a nice one! Love how more personal it is to stay at small places. In Cape Town I stayed in the Gardens. Loved it! Where did you stay? Cape Town was so different from Johannesburg, as I could walk around with no worries.

  1. OMgosh it is adorbs but strange that there are areas that are off limits!? Is that because it’s dangerous or because they want to protect an area for local residents? #WanderfulWednesday

    1. Because it is not safe, which for me laid a lid on my experience as I am used to, and love, just walking around “aimlessly” exploring.

Love to hear your comment :)
