In Umhlanga Rocks, Durban, there is plenty of places to choose from when it comes to eating. With Vovo Telo being busy as I passed, I decided to stop by for lunch. It is both a bakery and a cafe. After having my chicken sandwich and my obligatory juice (I love the juices in South Africa, have replaced my tea craving 🙂 ), I couldn’t help myself, but I had to get a chocolate croissant on the way out. Sooo yummy! A cool feature at Vevo Telo is that you can see the baked goods come to life, as you can see bakers at work. And to occupy impatient children, they are allowed to bake as well, making figurines which, I assume, their parents have to buy afterwards. One kid kept brining new stuff to their table. Parents keeping saying it’s enough. Great business idea 🙂 What’s not so great is that the children are sitting on the baking counter, where food is prepared… Looked like the kids were baking on the same counter too. With doves flying inside the cafe, it might not make any difference though… Good food, but some aspects of the place make you think about food safety.
I wouldn´t say no to a chocolate croissant either lol And I love places where you get to see this “work in progress” when they prepare food in front of you! It´s also great that children are occupied, so that you could enjoy your coffee #TheWeeklyPostcard
Yes, it stood out with a couple of features different from other places. That coco croissant was such a surprise. I mean, I’ve had a few of them before, but this one was top notch!
I don’t know if a cafe with doves or pigeons flying in/out would “fly” (pun intended) here in the USA with the local health departments, but it sounds like you had a good lunch and yummy dessert all the same. Cheers! #TheWeeklyPostcard
Ha ha, it would not fly here in Norway either 😀
I shouldn’t have read this before eating breakfast ,lol

Ha ha, I am sorry 🙂
That’s so awesome that the bakery allows the children to bake to keep them entertained! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!
Yes, just wish it had been in a more orderly fashion.
Glad you found another nice cafe. So what is it about the juices in South Africa that make them special? #TheWeeklyPostcard
South Africa is teeming with great places to eat! I don’t know what it is about the juices, but I just loved them. Tasty, plenty to choose from. Could be we don’t have anything remotely close to the selection/offer at home (Norway)…
