A Museum Not to Miss!

district six museum cape town south africa

Can you believe it, but I was actually not gonna go visit this museum. Then I saw photos of it, and decided I should give it a shot. This museum telling stories about District Six in Cape Town and forced removals more generally, has such exceptional and different displays than any other museum I’ve been to, that this is a museum not to miss! And had I known about the adorable cafe in the back, I would not have had lunch on the way 🙁

  1. I don’t think this place existed when I was last in Capetown, but it looks really really interesting. Will definitely make an effort to go next time I visit. #citytripping

    1. It was established in 1994. You’ll probably hear stories like this elsewhere in Cape Town and South Africa, but the displays are unique.

  2. What an interesting museum to see. Cape Town seems like an absolutely remarkable place to visit, but it’s such a long trip from the US. We were looking at some flights to Africa last night, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to break it up to make it more manageable! I’d love to visit though. #citytripping

    1. I liked it a lot, and I LOVED Cape Town! Yes, I don’t envy you the flying time. I think it’s long just going from Norway. I have some American friends (DC area) that uses Qatar Airways going to Myanmar. They think it is very convenient. I use them a lot too, also for this trip. They have a 48 hr sale now, ending today. This is my affiliate link, if you’d like to use it 🙂 https://nexus.syndicmarketing.com/scripts/25nzc7y?a_aid=59c8fb470e53f&desturl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.qatarairways.com%2Fen-us%2Foffers%2Fonline-sale.html%3FCID%3D%7B%24data9%7D&a_cid=877fd8bc

  3. If I ever make it to Cape Town (it’s been on my list for a while), I’ll definitely visit this museum.
