Cake Time in Cape Town

cafe gardens cape town south africa

This is a nice cafe to have the tea of the day, and cake ๐Ÿ™‚ Carrot cake. Big piece. Way too much, but real goooood ๐Ÿ™‚ Seems like this place, as many other cafes in Cape Town, sell products as well as serve food. From the writing on the wall, I could make out thatย Melissa’s started right here on Kloof Street, and have become a South African food and lifestyle brand. At the Cradle of Life in other words ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I was never a fan of carrot cake as a kid. I think because it had carrot in it, I thought it was too healthy to be labeled “cake” and I shunned it accordingly. But I think I could be swayed by this healthy chunk of deliciousness! #CityTripping

    1. Ha ha, that is so funny! But come to think of it, I didn’t try carrot cake until adulthood either. Maybe because of the same reason ๐Ÿ™‚ Now I love it, and maybe so will you ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. I love Cape Town, so I hope you get to go back to SA! It was a nice place to sit down for a tea and cake, and I was so surprised/delighted by the shop as well.

  2. Oh, I have been here… I had red velvet cake, if memory serves me. The restaurant in the Company gardens also does really nice cake!

    1. You have? How fun ๐Ÿ™‚ I didn’t come across any Melissa’s while I was close by, on my way to District Six and Truth Coffee.

Love to hear your comment :)
