This is a nice cafe to have the tea of the day, and cake ๐ Carrot cake. Big piece. Way too much, but real goooood ๐ Seems like this place, as many other cafes in Cape Town, sell products as well as serve food. From the writing on the wall, I could make out thatย Melissa’s started right here on Kloof Street, and have become a South African food and lifestyle brand. At the Cradle of Life in other words ๐

That looks a good piece of cake. Thanks for linking up with #citytripping
I love carrot cake. It was big, I was full, but I couldn’t stop ๐
I was never a fan of carrot cake as a kid. I think because it had carrot in it, I thought it was too healthy to be labeled “cake” and I shunned it accordingly. But I think I could be swayed by this healthy chunk of deliciousness! #CityTripping
Ha ha, that is so funny! But come to think of it, I didn’t try carrot cake until adulthood either. Maybe because of the same reason ๐ Now I love it, and maybe so will you ๐
I have been to South Africa, but not Capetown as yet. Good to know. Next time I go, I will make sure this stop is on the list for a quick afternoon bite!
I love Cape Town, so I hope you get to go back to SA! It was a nice place to sit down for a tea and cake, and I was so surprised/delighted by the shop as well.
Oh, I have been here… I had red velvet cake, if memory serves me. The restaurant in the Company gardens also does really nice cake!

You have? How fun ๐ I didn’t come across any Melissa’s while I was close by, on my way to District Six and Truth Coffee.
I love carrot cake, my grand daughter and I just made one a few weeks ago. SO RICH and YUMMY.
I LOVE carrot cake too ๐ Not so keen on the frosting though ๐ Sounds delish!
Yes the frosting can be very overwhelmingly sweet. I usually take off most of it so I can enjoy the taste of the cake.
Me too ๐
