A New Pie to Try

restaurant gardens cape town south africa

On the hunt for a light dinner, I came across Tamboers Winkel, not far from my Cape Town temporary home, aka guesthouse 🙂 It’s on a side street to Kloof Street, so it’s a little bit off even though it’s not. A small, cozy place with a few tables only, and a feeling of being in someone’s kitchen. It takes a while for the food to be served, as I’ve learned by now is the case some places in South Africa, but, as I’ve also learned, there’s plenty of it. A huge, spicy, and inviting pulled pork pie landed in front of me. And a salad I didn’t know it came with. Only one thing to do, dig in. Unfortunately, I found the filling to be a little lacklustre. Definitely not what I call spicy. When I have a closer look at the photos, they apparently sell products as well – cool!

      1. That’s a good point. We too would like to spend some time in Cape Town. Perhaps take a train up there to Namibia

          1. Our friends in the Cape told us there are train tours to Namibia. That might be a weekly thing and could be a little pricier
