Livingstone, Zambia

When you’re off to visit Victoria Falls you have two options to choose from when it comes to where you want to base yourself. Livingstone in Zambia or Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Reading beforehand that Victoria Falls is built to accommodate tourists and Livingstone has a more authentic feel to it, for those who know me, it comes as no surprise that I chose the latter. And my research was right on, at least regarding Livingstone. It has no tourism vibe to it at all. This is a village for living. The only thing indicating the hoards of tourists coming every year is the fairly big souvenir market at the end of the main road. Plenty of stalls, with more or less the same to offer. Although spotted a few things of the rarer kind, which I will be picking up before leaving 🙂 With this being a village for going about your everyday life, it has little to offer but walk down the main street and take in locals living their life. Oh, just remembered another plus. When flying in, you fly over Victoria Falls and Zambezi – great photo ops 🙂

    1. It is so much better than Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, which is the other choice. Number of days depends on how much you want to do. There’s not much to do in the village itself, that’s done in half a day, but there are a lot to do relating to the falls, the river, the bridge, the wildlife parks around. But the activities are expensive. I stayed for 3 1/2 days, and had a day to spare. I didn’t go on any tours. Just explored myself. Was planning on doing a sunset cruise my last evening, but my body shut a bit down, so a day doing nothing was perfect 🙂

Love to hear your comment :)
