I found Melbourne to be an expensive place when it came to accommodation. The cheapest I could find was this hotel, Ibis Budget Melbourne CBD. Even though it is perfectly, centrally located on Elizabeth Street it is kinda hard to find, as the entrance with it’s single sign is pretty difficult to spot. A few floors up, and you’ll arrive at the reception. And everything about this place screams hostel, from reception to breakfast room, to the super narrow hallways, and the room. It’s very basic, but good. Since I visited down under in their winter the evenings were a cold affair, but equipped with a well-working heater it was only the restroom that was freezing 🙂

Basic can do the job sometimes – as long as it’s clean that’s all that matters! #citytripping
Yes, sometimes it does. Clean, safe and central.
I’m not really a budget and basic traveller but glad you found this place #citytripping
I can do both budget and swanky, depends on what’s called for 🙂 Me too!
You did well in Melbourne! It is a notoriously expensive place, and if you only use the hotel to sleep in, the Ibis looks like it does the job! #CityTripping
I was very happy with my find 🙂 Melbourne was expensive. A lot more than I thought it was going to be. Ibis helped stretch my 5 week Oceania vacation budget 🙂
I’m such a ‘basic’ lover when it comes to city breaks – I barely spend any time in my room usually, so have no need for anything too fancy! #citytripping
The same with me. I just need something clean, safe and central. I’ll rather splurge when splurging is needed 🙂
It looks like a simple, basic room. Looks clean though. How much did you pay for it? #citytripping
It was, but still good. I don’t remember exactly, but with today’s exchange rate somewhere around 75 USD.
